That is, you have to do what almost every new MMORPG has, namely, to climb up a very high tower upward, passing several times on the same floor, but to do this oh how difficult it is, because the game is considered very difficult in terms of passing due to the ever-increasing complexity of opponents that get in your way.

On PC, this project is completely free and you only have to worry about the anti-cheat system, because there is still its own multiplayer with various functions. It’s not very nice to meet a player who, for example, has a defense of 99999 units (the figures are purely for example), the situation is generally the same as with some players in the Dark Souls series.

So, having entered the game, the first thing you will need to do is choose your very first corpse. Yes, it’s a corpse, because in Let It Die you essentially control only characters who can be easily changed or stored in the refrigerator.

The brightest local character is Uncle Death, who is represented mainly in a typical image with a skull and a scythe, but only he constantly rides on a skateboard and wears glasses with a bright red rotating spiral. It is he who is the local help system that will tell you some key points or notify you about the unlocking of the new system in a comical form.

As you might have guessed, in fact you will not have one main character, since when you go up the floors you will have more and more types of corpses, each of them differs in its grade (the higher, the better) and the main archetype (class). And, looking ahead, in the future you will be able to develop and pump a certain character as you please or as you need for a specific purpose, since the developers stuffed an impressive arsenal of various characteristics that affect the gameplay.

In total, if I remember correctly, the game has eight main archetypes that specialize in certain features in battle, in simple terms, they all have a certain increase in basic characteristics.

  • All-rounder is a balanced fighter who is equally good and bad at everything.

  • Collector – a master who is able to collect a bunch of different junk for crafting, he also has a posthumous bag increased.
  • Skill Master – it has the most available cells for special items than all other archetypes.
  • Lucky Star is an ideal character for finding and collecting valuable loot, as its luck rate is initially high.

Moreover, each of your corpses has its own level of pumping and development, which, as I recall, is also limited to a certain floor, that is, if you do not go, for example, 50 beyond X level, you will not be able to develop your character. And there are quite a lot of levels themselves and it will definitely take you a decent amount of time to raise them, but still there are special items in the game with which you can quickly raise the level of a new character.

The number of characters that you can create directly depends on the capacity of your refrigerator, and it can gradually be improved.

In total, this same tower, as I recall, contains 41 floors, and the complexity of enemies increases very quickly with each new floor, and also on some floors the boss will be waiting for you.

Your main task is to get to the very top, but it’s not so simple to do it and therefore sometimes you will have to clean the same floor more than once to equip your character.

The combat system in Let It Die will very much remind you of a series of soul games, since here a certain key is responsible for each hand, that is, like in Dark Souls, where you can put, for example, a sword in each hand.

In battle, you have two main indicators: health and endurance, which are responsible for the survival of the character, if everything is clear with health, then, as such, the endurance scale is not here. Instead, the heart of the corpse serves as an indicator, which, as your endurance is consumed, becomes more noticeable and its rhythm increases significantly, Japanese developers have found an interesting way to display it.

Of course, the game has a lot of different equipment that you can take with you to each floor to successfully pass it, but here it is worth considering that it has a certain margin of safety and after it breaks, you will lose it forever. Various drawings are called upon to solve this problem, which you can find on the floors and then bring them to a special NPC. He has things and is created by crafting, and after creating a certain thing, it becomes available for regular purchase from the same NPC. So in fact, we can say that finding the perfect set of equipment and running with it almost the entire game is impossible, unless you constantly buy it again.

In general, it is precisely such a system of equipment that allows you to add a special meaning to the process of passing each level, which consists in collecting resources and finding new recipes. Moreover, as you could already understand, certain types of characters are ideal for this.

Each weapon in the game has a certain skill level, which is pumped while you use it. When the character reaches a certain level of skill, new types of combinations and powerful attacks will be available to him, capable of destroying the enemy in no time.

There is also an interesting mechanics of the death of your character, which has several development options. In simple terms, at some point you will find the enemy who can still kill you and the very first option not to lose your character and equipment is to continue the game right on the spot for special skulls. The second method is simply to redeem your character for playing gold and return it with the equipment back to the refrigerator, as far as I remember, the amount depends on the floor and the level of the character. And, finally, the third option is to take a new character and, returning to the death card, fight with the murdered, as he has now become a “hater”, only in this case you will lose all your equipment.

Well, in conclusion, it’s worth talking about the online component, which seems to be there, but on the other hand it does not exist.

In simple terms, at a certain level, each user can unlock the online function for himself, but you should not expect that you can fight against real players.

Each user in this project can safely expose one of his characters to do certain online things, where they will be controlled by the game system. In total, you have several options where exactly to send your characters to get the most profit: leave several to guard your base, send them as haters to the worlds of other players (a simplified version of the intruder), or simply send them to raids for “swag”.

However, the user himself can directly take part in the online component, attacking the enemy’s base, here you can give as an example MGS 5, where there was a similar system. But before you even think about this feature, it is worth considering that during such an event, if you fail, you can lose all the equipment, which is why many users do this naked, with weapons in their hands.

You will carry out such races on the base of the players for the main resources of the game or, if everything is done successfully, to steal a character who is put on the defensive. Although in the second case, it will take some time to rinse his brains and at that time other intruders can also steal him.

Here it is worth considering that each player (including you) cannot be beat out all his currency, but only a certain percentage, so that the user will not definitely be left without a penny. As far as I remember, a player’s base that is online cannot be attacked, and as soon as he goes offline, in total his base can be attacked only once.

To summarize, we can say that Let It Die once went pretty well to the owners of the consoles and made them spend many hours climbing up the tower and studying various features of game mechanics. Again, because it was free, the pleasant impression of this game also increased, because the main earnings of developers went only through microtransactions.

As I said, most likely, fans of souls or roguelike genres of Let It Die may like it and drag it out for many hours of their free time, but it is in the PC version that I still care about the problem of anti-cheat and characters with very high indicators that will attack your base.
